When you enter this country, which sits one foot in Europe and one in the Middle East, they must abandon stereotypes reflecting film Midnight Express, because Turkey is modernizing at an astonishing rate. The oriental splendor, mystery, intrigue and whirling dervishes, are not sufficient to describe a nation with an exciting story, a mind that operates everywhere and a future try not to repeat the mistakes of the past. This country combines many attractions. It is also an ideal place for tourists. The Turks are mostly very welcoming to visitors, the kitchen is usually excellent, majestic cities have old buildings and allow rural areas into a world we thought disappeared. There is a huge variety of tourist offer, from water sports to mountain hiking, from archeology to nights out, from down whitewater rivers to tasting delicacies such as raki (anise-flavored liquor). When leaving Turkey it is common to produce a desire to return again, in search of magnificent carpets, amulets to ward off evil spirits, suggestive belly dancing, or just a tan. Things have changed since the violent riots in early 1999 when the PKK, the Workers Party of Kurdistan, starred in a series of attacks on Turkish authorities because of the arrest and imprisonment of rebel leader Abdullah Ocalan. Although the cease-fire remains in effect, still can not guarantee the security of the area. In Istanbul bombings have occurred occasionally. Some provinces are strongholds of the members of the PKK, in particular Hakkari, Sirnak, Tunceli and Diyarbakir. The area southeast of the country, particularly the provinces under state of emergency and surrounding areas (Agri, Batman, Bingol, Bitlis, Diyarbakir, Hakkari, Igdir, Mardin, Mus, Siirt, Sirnak, Van and Tunceli) recorded a changing situation. It is therefore recommended Altimas learn about developments in the embassy. Turkey is essentially a safe destination for foreign tourists except the southeast of the country, but do not forget to take precautions and use common sense to eat, avoid political rallies and demonstrations.

In Turkey you can visit cities like Alanya, Amasya, Ankara or Van
