Travel to Poland

  • Flag
Due to its location in the heart of the Old Continent, Poland has been both a bridge as a front between eastern and western Europe. Today, it has become the ideal country for those who want to witness how a nation shakes off the dust from his past and tries to start again. Discovery of a multifaceted country where modern urban characters enjoy the ancient capital and medieval towns, where horse carts run through areas that the twenty-first century seems to have arrived.

In Poland you can visit cities like Antonin, Łeba, Biecz or Zwierzyniec
Other user descriptions
Poland (Polish: Polska)-officially, the Republic of Poland (Rzeczpospolita Polska) - is a country located in the eastern portion of the Central European EU member. It borders Germany to the west, the Czech Republic and Slovakia to the south, Ukraine, Belarus and Lithuania to the east, and the Baltic Sea and Kaliningrad Oblast, a Russian exclave, to the north. Polish territory includes in its larger portion north of the Great European Plain and mountainous territory covered south of the Sudeten, the Carpathians and the Santa Cruz Mountains. Its capital and largest city is Warsaw, the historic capital of Mazovia, although for many Poles, most importantly the former capital, Krakow, and Poznan, the ancient capital of Polanes, ancestores Poland. The creation of a Polish nation is often identified with the adoption of Christianity by its ruler Mieszko I in 966, when its territory was similar to modern Poland. The Kingdom of Poland was formed in 1025, and in 1569 cemented a long association with the Grand Duchy of Lithuania by signing the Union of Lublin, which was erected by the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. The Commonwealth collapsed in 1795, and the Polish territory was divided among Russia, Prussia and Austria. Poland regained its independence after the First World War as the Second Polish Republic, but was occupied by Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union at the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939. Poland lost over six million citizens in the war and emerged as the Republic of Poland under Soviet influence. During the Revolutions of 1989, the communist government was overthrown and succeeded by then what the Constitution is called the Third Republic of Poland. Politically, the Republic is a unitary state divided into voivodships diecisés (Województwo), member of the European Union since 2004.
