The remains of great civilizations make Peru a fascinating country. Visitors can wander around colonial cities that still preserve the legacy of the Spanish, visit the ancient Inca capital, Cuzco, or explore the lost city of Machu Picchu and ponder the enigmatic Nazca drawings. But it takes a long stay in Peru to realize that the New World had a complex cultural life thousands of years before Pizarro stepped Inca land. The country boasts spectacular scenery and varied. It is said that the Peruvian Andes are the most beautiful continent and its mountains million indigenous inhabitants speak Quechua and still retain their ancestral way of life. The Amazon basin occupies half of Peru and is one of the ten points of the world where there is greater biodiversity. This is a rainforest area rich in species. Although travelers often do not appreciate too the coastal deserts, with their huge rolling dunes, oases and fishing villages of farming, they offer a perfect opportunity to escape the traditional routes. To enjoy Peru only takes a curious spirit, interest in the landscape and history.

Peru (in Quechua and Aymara: Piruw)-officially Republic of Peru, is a country located in western and intertropical South America. Bordered on the north by Ecuador and Colombia, east by Brazil, on the southeast by Bolivia, Chile to the south and west by the Pacific Ocean, 200 miles after the country claims as its maritime domain. Its territory comprises different landscapes: valleys, plateaus and high mountains of the Cordillera of the Andes spread west to the desert coast and the Amazon to the east. Peru is one of the most biologically diverse countries in the world and major mineral resources. Ancient Peru was the cradle of Andean civilization. By the 3200 a. C. Caral-Supe emerged, although it was not until the Chavín that followed the classic Andean civilizations as the Moche, Nazca and Huari. By the fifteenth century, the Inca Empire, spread throughout much of western South America to the Conquest in 1532, after which he established a viceroyalty that was part of the Spanish Empire. The Spanish founded cities and imported African slaves, which was configured with Creole culture with Moorish elements, blacks and Indians. The eighteenth-century Bourbon reforms sparked several uprisings against the authority of the peninsula, was epitomized by the rebellion of Tupac Amaru II. With the French occupation of Spain and Pepa or propalación the 1812 Constitution, spread the ideas of political independence in Spanish America. Thus in 1821 formally proclaimed independence, settled on December 9, 1824 after the Battle of Ayacucho. The country was in recession and warlordism until the boom and decline of the Age of Guano, which ended shortly before the Pacific War.
