Mexico5 (Nahuatl: Mēxihco)?, Officially called Mexico is a country located in the southern part of North America. Bordered on the north by the United States of America, southeast by Belize and Guatemala, to the east by the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea and west by the Pacific Ocean. It is the fourteenth largest country in the world, covering nearly 2 million km ². Its population is around 112 million people in 2010. Most have Spanish as their mother tongue, which the state recognizes as a national language along with 67 languages indígenas.6 Human presence in Mexico dates back to 30,000 years ago. After thousands of years of cultural development, emerged in the Mexican territory Mesoamerican cultures, and oasisamericanas aridoamericanas. After nearly 300 years of Spanish rule, Mexico began the struggle for political independence in 1810. Thereafter, for nearly a century the country was embroiled in a series of internal wars and foreign invasions had effects on all spheres of life of Mexicans. For much of the twentieth century (mainly the first half) there was a period of high economic growth under a policy dominated by one political party. According to the World Tourism Organization, Mexico is the main tourist destination in Latin America and one of 10 most visited countries world.7 This is due largely to the 31 cultural and natural sites that are considered by UNESCO as a World Heritage Humanity, and in this sense the first on the continent and sixth in the world. For the net volume of nominal gross domestic product (GDP), Mexico is considered the fourteenth global economy, 8-although between 2001 and 2006 was the ninth-September 10 and No. 11 by GDP (PPP) .4 It is the second largest economy in Latin America and fourth in the continent. However, the distribution of wealth is uneven, municipalities in the country coexist with human development indicators similar to highly developed nations such as poor as Germany11 or Burundi.12 Mexico is also one of the countries with the greatest diversity of climates in the world, considered one of the 12 diverse countries in the world, being home to 10-12% of biodiversity mundial13 and home to over 12 000 species endémicas.14
