A short distance from Churchgate Station is the Netaji Subash Chandra Marg, also known under the name British Marine Drive, Mumbai promenade, which was built in 1920 on high ground, and consists of urban highway eight lanes and a wide sidewalk for pedestrians. The Marine Drive an arc from the tall buildings of Nariman Point to the foot of Malabar Hill and Chowpatty Beach, where every year in September the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, which is offering an elephant's head the god Ganesha, and attracts large crowds.
