The Deichtorhallen in Hamburg are among the major exhibition spaces for contemporary art and photography in Europe. The two historic buildings with their open steel and glass architecture was built from 1911 to 1913 and are located near the port city. The hall for contemporary art and photography of the house are complemented by a branch in Hamburg-Harburg with the collection Falckenberg. Between 1911 and 1914, the Deichtorhallen were built on the site of the former railway station in Berlin, the Hamburg counterpart of the "Hamburger Bahnhof" in Berlin, as the market halls. You are one of the few remaining examples of industrial architecture of the period of transition from Art Nouveau to the expressive forms of the 20th Century dar. The two halls are open steel structures: a three-aisled nave, the northern hall with 3,800 m² floor space, the southern hall (1,800 m²) is a central building with a lantern. The Deichtorhallen are restored after the donation by the Körber Foundation in Hamburg owned by the city. In 1989 they were handed over to the Deichtorhallen Exhibition GmbH. On 9 November opened in 1989 with the exhibition of obviousness Harald Szeemann the international art exhibition halls of the program.
