The Bridgestone Museum of Art (Japanese ブリヂストン 美術館, Burijisuton Bijutsukan) is an art museum in Tokyo. Shojiro Ishibashi of the houses there, the founder of the tire manufacturer Bridgestone, collected works of art. The museum is located since its foundation in 1952 in the 2nd Floor of the Tokyo headquarters of Bridgestone Tire Company in the Chuo district of the municipality. The museum's founder Shojiro Ishibashi (1889-1976) took over in 1956 the Museum of the Ishibashi Foundation, founded by him, one of which includes the Ishibashi Museum of Art of Japanese Art in his hometown of Kurume. Ishibashi founded in 1961 the Bridgestone Museum of Art the bulk of his art collection, which is then continuously. Since the last major renovation in 1999, the museum offers a 2924 m² over eleven collections and two exhibition rooms. The focus of the collection is of European paintings of Impressionism, Late Impressionism and Modernism, as well as Japanese artists from the early 20th Century to the 1960s. Among the earliest paintings in the museum include some works by Rembrandt van Rijn, Jean-Baptiste Pater, Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres. The French Romanticism and the Barbizon school is represented in the museum by artists such as Jean-Baptiste Camille Corot, Gustave Courbet, Charles-Francois Daubigny, Daumier, Eugene Delacroix and Jean-Francois Millet. The collection of Impressionist paintings shows only seven works by Claude Monet and six works by Pierre-Auguste Renoir. There are also in this collection area three works by Édouard Manet and Edgar Degas, as well as paintings by Eugène Boudin, Adolphe Monticelli, Camille Pissarro and Alfred Sisley. Paul Cézanne's works with five of the best artists presented the following late Impressionism. The collection is complemented by this style of painting by Paul Gauguin, Vincent van Gogh and Gustave Moreau.
