In geology, rock is called the composite of one or more minerals as a final result of different geological processes. The concept of rock is not necessarily related to the compact or cohesive, but also the gravels, sands, clays, or even oil, are rocks. The rocks are subject to continuous change by the action of geological agents, as a closed loop (the rock cycle), called lithologic cycle, which involved even living beings. Rocks are formed generally as heterogeneous mixtures of different crystalline and homogeneous materials, ie minerals. Poliminerálicas rocks consist of grains or crystals of various mineralogical species and monominerálicas rocks consist of grains or crystals of the same mineral. Rocks are usually harder materials, but can also be soft, as in the case of sandy or argillaceous rocks.
